Websites on sites.stanford.edu and people.stanford.edu will be receiving updates from May 30 to June 1. University IT will be updating Drupal modules to maintain the security of all websites on Stanford Sites and ensure everyone continues to benefit from the latest community contributions. Updates start around 10PM Pacific and usually wrap up around 4AM, during which time your site may be unavailable for approximately 1 minute.

Making menu links visible for all users

University IT will be rolling out a round of updates December 6th through 9th to all websites hosted on Stanford Sites. Updates start around 10PM Pacific and usually wrap up around 4AM, during which time your site may be unavailable for approximately 1 minute. Choosing NoBots instead of Stanford MetaTag NoBots

Are you creating a new site on Stanford Sites, but don't want Search Engines to see it? The NoBots module is here to replace Stanford MetaTag NoBots.

NoBots recently joined the growing list of modules available to Stanford Sites during the Summer 2016 Updates. It replaces the soon-to-be-deprecated Stanford Metatag NoBots module, which was featured as a Module of the Day here on the SWS Blog in 2014.

University IT will perform maintenance on all websites on the Stanford Sites Drupal hosting service approximately bi-weekly from July 26th through September 23rd. Details on what is included in each update window are below, and we will update this post as we have more information.

University IT will perform maintenance on all websites on the Stanford Sites Drupal hosting service on the following dates:

Tuesday, June 28th (10PM to 4AM June 29th): Personal sites on people.stanford.edu
Wednesday, June 29th (10PM to 4AM June 30th): Group and department sites on sites.stanford.edu
Thursday, June 30th (10PM to 4AM July 1st): Group and department sites on sites.stanford.edu; development sites on sites-dev.stanford.edu and people-dev.stanford.edu

These changes are significant and include updating Drupal core to the latest release, as well as security-related module upgrades for both Drupal 6 and 7 sites. See below for a complete list of updated modules.

University IT will perform maintenance on the Stanford Sites Drupal hosting service on the following date:

Thursday, February 25, between 5-5:30 AM: including all personal sites hosted on people.stanford.edu and group and department sites hosted on sites.stanford.edu

This maintenance requires switching Stanford Sites to using its secondary database server in preparation for upcoming maintenance on the university's network. Planned changes should result in improved stability and faster performance for all websites hosted on Stanford Sites. This maintenance does not include Drupal core application or module updates.

It's widely used by departments, organizations, and student groups to promote events to the public and members of our campus community, and it provides a valuable resource for planning and scheduling. The challenge is cross-promoting events. In the past, sharing events content across multiple websites required re-typing. Ouch! We'll show you how to use the Stanford Events Importer module to save time and cross-promote events from multiple organizations.

Using Stanford Feeds for easier content maintenance

Would you like to display courses on your website? How about events or links to people profiles? The Stanford community provides a variety of web feeds which provide data or content that your Drupal website can leverage.

Frequently the content you need on your website is already published on another website. Rather than adding this content manually to your website, you can use a web feed to import this published content from the source website and display it on your website.
